## Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta’s Crop Protection Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Team is seeking a Government Relations Manager in Washington, DC. This role will represent the company in legislative and regulatory matters and provide comprehensive support to the Director, Federal Affairs, and the Head of Public Affairs, NA, in advancing Syngenta’s interests through effective engagement with government officials, agencies, and industry stakeholders.

This role will help shape public policy that supports Syngenta’s business goals and values, with a focus on building relationships, conducting research, preparing materials, coordinating the company’s legislative advocacy efforts, and contributing to the overall strategic direction of Syngenta’s government relations efforts in North America.

## Accountabilities

– **Drive policy outcomes** that align with Syngenta’s strategic objectives.
– **Build and maintain relationships** with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry associations, and advocacy groups. This may involve attending meetings, coordinating communications, working with consultants, and preparing materials for meetings. Develop and own relationships with government officials and others where appropriate.
– **Analyze policy developments** and conduct relevant research. Prepare talking points, presentations, and other communication materials for the Director and other Syngenta representatives. Assist in drafting correspondence and other communications.
– **Monitor legislative activity** at the federal and state levels, tracking bills and amendments relevant to Syngenta’s interests. Provide timely updates and analysis to the Director and broader public affairs team.
– **Assist with PAC management** for Syngenta’s political action committee (PAC).
– **Support event planning** for conferences, meetings, and briefings.
– **Network with stakeholders** including peer companies and relevant partners.
– **Contribute to strategic planning** and execution of Syngenta’s government relations program in North America.

## Qualifications

– **Bachelor’s degree** in Government, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
– **5 years of experience** working in a public affairs or public relations function.
– **Coalition development experience** with stakeholders to achieve desired results.
– **Advocacy experience** before Congress and Executive Agencies.
– **Strong judgment and political acumen**, especially in agriculture, defense, trade, crop protection, and related issues.
– **Outstanding communication skills**, written and verbal.
– **Experience with federal government branches**.
– **Ability to work across time zones**, countries, and cultures.
– **Global mindset** valuing varied perspectives.
