## What You Will Do
### Role Overview
Support federal government affairs for EDP Renewables North America, working under the day‑to‑day direction of the Federal Affairs Lead and in coordination with the Senior Director of Government and Public Affairs. The Associate will contribute to the execution of the company’s policy analysis and advocacy agenda across North America, including the United States and Mexico, through research, coordination, drafting, and stakeholder engagement support.
Preferred location: Washington, DC.
### Main Responsibilities
– **Support federal advocacy** — Assist with engagement before federal policymakers in the U.S. and Mexico, including the legislative and executive branches, under the direction of senior government affairs staff.
– **Relationship building** — Establish and maintain relationships with elected officials’ offices, industry associations, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
– **Policy research** — Research, monitor, and analyze federal legislative and regulatory developments and assess implications for EDPR NA’s business activities.
– **Media and publication tracking** — Track industry publications, mainstream media, and government communications for relevant updates.
– **Briefing preparation** — Prepare briefing materials, background research, meeting summaries, and follow‑up communications.
– **Internal policy updates** — Draft internal policy summaries for senior leadership, including assessments of proposed and enacted actions.
– **Advocacy strategy support** — Support timelines, stakeholder tracking, and coordination with internal teams, consultants, lobbyists, and trade associations.
– **Event support** — Assist with conferences, public forums, and government hearings, including preparation and logistics.
– **Legislative/regulatory support** — Support broader initiatives as needed.
– **PAC administration** — Support administrative and compliance‑related aspects of managing the EDPR NA PAC.
– **Additional duties** — Perform additional duties as assigned.

## What We Are Looking For
### Minimum Requirements
– **Bachelor’s degree** — Political science, public policy, economics, or related field; advanced degree optional.
– **Experience** — At least three years in policy analysis, government affairs, political research, or related fields.
– **Interest in clean energy** — Demonstrated interest in federal policy and the clean energy sector; renewable energy exposure is a plus.
– **Research and writing skills** — Strong analytical and writing abilities.
– **Technical proficiency** — Proficiency with Microsoft Office and productivity tools.
– **Information synthesis** — Ability to synthesize complex policy information clearly.
– **Language skills** — Fluency in English required; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
