Senior Director of Government Affairs & Policy
Organization: Einride
Location: Washington, DC

## Want to be part of transforming road freight – for good?

Einride is showing the world a new way to move, based on the latest digital, electric and autonomous technologies. Through freight capacity as a service, we enable businesses around the world to accelerate towards their sustainability goals.

Founded in 2016, Einride became the first company in the world to deploy a cab‑less autonomous electric vehicle on a public road (Sweden, 2019). In 2022, we were the first to successfully operate such a vehicle on a US public road. Today our award‑winning technology has been launched across 8 countries (and counting). Our clients are some of the world’s biggest shippers, including Fortune 500 companies. We are also operating Sweden’s largest truck‑dedicated public charging network and counting.

Einride’s Global Affairs & Safety team combines political and regulatory strategy with the engineering and governance expertise that earns public trust. Our policy, regulatory and government affairs function opens markets and shapes regulation around the world, while our security and safety engineers build the safety case, governance frameworks, documentation, and policies required to secure and maintain our operational approvals. Together, we build the foundations that allow Einride to operate at the frontier of autonomous freight.

## Senior Director, US Government Affairs & Policy

As Senior Director, US Government Affairs & Policy, you will lead Einride’s federal and state‑level political strategy in the United States. You’ll build the institutional relationships, design the policy playbooks, and create the strategic activations that open markets, earn credibility, and position Einride as the defining voice in autonomous and electric freight policy in America.

The strategic component to this role is substantial; you will set the long‑term strategy for policy and establish the frameworks, assets, partnerships, and arguments required for commercial‑scale autonomy.

## You will

– **Lead federal and state strategy** — Manage DC presence and build institutional trust with regulators and agencies.
– **Design creative playbooks** — Create “campaign‑style” activations to advance Einride’s positions and scale autonomous freight.
– **Build long‑term footprints** — Develop partnerships with ports, universities, and industry coalitions to drive the commercial pipeline.
– **Partner with Comms** — Win media attention and shape the public narrative around autonomous freight.
– **Leverage government relationships** — Secure PPPs, support RFPs, and convert political interest into contracts.
– **Represent Einride** — Speak at industry events and congressional briefings as a leading voice in policy.

## We expect you to have

– **10–15 years of experience** in government affairs or political strategy, with deep ties to Washington D.C. and federal institutions.
– **Proven track record** in complex, fast‑moving sectors like technology, mobility, energy, or defense.
– **Experience building GA functions** from the ground up, including managing external lobbyists and coalitions.
– **Ability to develop proactive frameworks** and model legislation rather than reacting to existing processes.
– **Skill translating policy into business outcomes** and tangible commercial results.
– **Exceptional public affairs and media experience**, able to represent the company at the highest levels of government.

This is a full‑time, US‑based position. While remote work is an option, candidates located in Washington, D.C. are preferred. You will be part of a truly diverse, high‑performing team with a common passion for sustainability and making things happen in an innovative way. We recommend submitting your application as soon as possible since selection and interviews are held continually.

Please note that as part of our standard recruitment process, we conduct a background control on the final candidate for this role. This may include verification of education, employment history, relevant professional certifications, or other information of interest.
