**Organization:** America’s Power
**Title:** Director, Senior Director, or Assistant Vice President — title commensurate with the candidate’s experience
**Location:** Washington, DC area (hybrid)
**Reports To:** CEO and Chief Policy Officer

## **About the Organization**

America’s Power is the only national trade organization whose sole mission is to advocate at the federal and state levels on behalf of coal-fueled electricity and the coal fleet. The organization works with policymakers, third parties, and the media to ensure that coal continues to play a meaningful role in reliable, affordable U.S. electricity generation.

## **Position Summary**

America’s Power is seeking an experienced policy professional to develop credible, objective analysis and advocacy materials used to support outreach to policymakers, third parties, and the media. The title — Director, Senior Director, or Assistant Vice President — will be set based on the successful candidate’s experience and capabilities.

This is a substantive policy role for someone who is genuinely fluent in the electric power sector and the regulations that shape it, and who can turn complex federal and state policy into clear, persuasive advocacy.

## **Primary Responsibilities**

– Analyze federal and state legislation, regulations, and policies and their impact on the coal fleet and its supply chain. Depending on experience and capability, the incumbent may either conduct the analysis independently or work with outside consultants to do so.
– Prepare understandable advocacy and education materials — including, but not limited to, summaries of federal policies and their impacts — across a wide range of policy and technical issues.
– Assist, as needed, in communicating America’s Power positions to policymakers and third parties.
– Work with legal counsel to provide legal analyses of legislation, regulations, and policies.
– Perform other related duties as assigned.

## **Essential Skills**

– Exceptional analytical, verbal, and written communications skills.
– Critical thinker who is highly objective.
– Creative thinking is a strong plus.

## **Experience**

– Minimum 10 years of policy analysis experience.
– Deep knowledge of the electric power sector, environmental regulations affecting the power sector, electric generating technologies, and at least a basic understanding of organized power markets.
– Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, key industry databases, and other analytical tools.
– Prior working relationships with electric sector representatives are desirable.

## **Education**

– BS required; MS preferred in economics, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline.

## **Compensation & Benefits**

Salary range of $150,000–$200,000, depending on experience and the title level (Director, Senior Director, or Assistant Vice President). Comprehensive benefits package.
