## Job Description

Schneider Electric has an opportunity for a **Communications Manager – Government Relations & Public Affairs** role in Washington, D.C. This position will be hybrid, 2–3 days in office per week.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy that will further build and enhance the Schneider Electric brand in Washington, D.C. and key states related to the key priorities and growth ambitions of the U.S. business within the company’s North America Operations zone.

The role will be comprised of developing and executing proactive media relations strategies and tactics to increase share of earned media in targeted print, online, and broadcast outlets; securing speaking opportunities for senior-level leaders and subject matter experts that demonstrate thought leadership in public policy related to myriad energy topics; and producing content and materials for use across social media platforms, in Op-eds, talking points, briefing documents, etc.

Communication duties will also consist of developing internal and external presentations, writing stories for the company’s employee communications platform and newsletter(s), creating thought leadership narratives and message houses, and drafting executive talking points for internal and external use.

The full-time position will report directly to the VP, North America Communications and dotted line to the VP, Government Affairs.

## Key Responsibilities

– **Identify news trends** — Understand reporter/editor interests; mine for and write compelling pitches that land news articles, long‑form stories, and broadcast TV/radio segments; seek newsjacking opportunities; develop news announcements, Op-eds, and bylined earned media articles.
– **Build executive visibility** — Secure strategic speaking engagements that boost visibility and demonstrate thought leadership on relevant topics.
– **Prepare communications materials** — Write news announcements, briefing documents, Q&As, speaking abstracts, executive talking points, PowerPoint presentations, and employee communications content.
– **Produce press events** — Manage press conferences, interview schedules, staff interviews, and conduct media training.
– **Support events** — Perform duties that deliver against business and PR objectives at industry or company-owned events.
– **Collaborate across teams** — Work with U.S. government relations, regional, and global communications teams on PR strategies, pitches, and media recommendations.
– **Partner on integrated campaigns** — Work with paid media, social media, and internal communications teams to maximize visibility across platforms.
– **Manage PR agencies** — Direct and interact with agency teams to ensure PR program objectives are met.

## Compensation

For this U.S.-based position, the expected compensation range is **$142,400–$213,600 per year**, including base pay and short‑term incentive.

Compensation is determined based on performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Schneider Electric also offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

## Work Experience

– **Government or policy experience** — Minimum 3–5 years in U.S. government, government relations, public policy, public affairs, NGO, or trade association communications.
– **Media relationships** — Established relationships with journalists and editors in business and trade media, as well as producers and bookers in broadcast and cable outlets.
– **Earned media writing** — Ability to write, articulate, and develop content for earned media.
– **PR agency management** — Experience working with and managing PR agencies and budgets.
– **Crisis management** — Experience handling crisis communications.
– **Communication skills** — Excellent written communication and presentation abilities.
– **Business and cultural fluency** — Strong understanding of business strategy and ability to work across cultures.
– **Matrixed environments** — Proven track record working within complex, matrixed organizations.
