Public Affairs Council Integrates U.S. and European Programming
Sousa Takes on Responsibility for International Network

Washington (June 8, 2020) – The Public Affairs Council is broadening its global programming and networks by expanding the role of João Sousa, the Council’s European office senior manager.

Sousa will now manage the Council’s growing International Network, develop international webinars, workshops and conferences for the Brussels and Washington offices, and provide expertise to members across an expanded international practice. The move further integrates the Council’s European office into the operations of the headquarters in Washington, D.C.

“As our international offerings continue to expand, we’re excited to have João take on a larger role in programming and strategy,” says Public Affairs Council President Doug Pinkham. “João is not only a talented speaker, trainer and strategic planner; he also has the expertise to provide valuable advice to global companies and nonprofits.”

“Since joining the Council, João has helped build on timely and substantive events in our Brussels office,” noted András Baneth, managing director of the Council’s European office. “Our members in the U.S., Europe and other markets will benefit as they now have direct access to our global experts.”

Sousa’s breadth of knowledge has been pivotal in the success of executive education programs for the Council’s global public affairs community. He has over 12 years of experience working as a spokesperson, strategic communications adviser and consultant in the private and public sectors in Europe and beyond. Before joining the Council, Sousa worked for the European Union, where he served as a spokesperson and led communications teams operating in Africa (DR Congo) and in Europe (Brussels and the Western Balkans).
