Associate Director, Advocacy & State Policy
The Associate Director of Advocacy & State Policy will report directly to the Senior Director, US Sales, and work closely with the Director of Infectious Disease & Managed Markets and other cross-functional stakeholders. The person will also work with CMS, DOD policy, and states reimbursement models, and Advocacy Support and Development.
Your Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement an integrated strategy to help shape the environment to achieve the Company’s policy objectives in support of business goals.
- Identify policy risks & opportunities, proactively provide trusted analysis, insights, and recommended strategies to cross-functional teams.
- Lead policy research and analysis to assess barriers and drivers to increasing access, uptake, and sustainability of vaccination efforts.
- Identify and implement projects (special clinics, outreach efforts) with external stakeholders to advance Company’s corporate objectives.
Team Leadership and Development
- Create talking points, policy briefs and position papers, policy evaluation frameworks, and support Government Affairs on comments on legislation and rulemaking.
- Collaborate with Corporate Strategy to provide policy input on pipeline products and evaluations.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee vendors and budgets relating to policy and advocacy strategies.
- Manage numerous, competing priorities under pressure and effective collaborative working and program management skills.
- Work closely with the leadership team to develop and implement payer strategies.
- Individual State Reimbursement for Medicaid (each state establishes policies and relationships).
Customer and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the Company’s voice with state BIO and national advocacy groups (NAIIS, Immunize.org, AIM, etc.), inform their activities/positions, share their perspectives internally, and support internal stakeholders in their interactions with these groups.
- Represent the Company in relevant public forums (ACIP, NVAC, Hill briefings, agency meetings and briefings) and conferences related to vaccine policy and advocacy, and present as required, sharing relevant information with the organization.
- Develop advocacy group relationships (AIM, LGBTQ groups) and state funding (Ryan White, ADAP, and 317 funding sources) resource allocation. Identify state funding sources that impact VFC and VFA contracts.
- Maintain channels of communication and represent the Company with key US policy stakeholders including CDC, OIDC, immunization coalitions, professional societies, and advocacy groups.
Skills & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration, Health Sciences, or similar field preferred.
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in any of the following areas: contracting and coverage with large national payers, medical group contracting, or extensive experience working in health plan contracting, coverage, or case management.
- Leadership Excellence: Extensive knowledge of reimbursement programs in pharma & biotech.
- Strategic Vision: Demonstrated success developing and managing complex negotiations with multiple decision-makers.
- Communication Skills: Must be able to respond to sensitive inquiries from management, internal, and external customers. Must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical Thinking Skills: Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information using discretion and judgment.
- Adaptability: High level of change agility, flexibility, and comfort with addressing and adapting to ambiguity.
- Innovation: Ideal candidate is innovative, proactive, and motivated, with a focus on continuous improvement and a strong desire to succeed.
- Administrative Skills: Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required.
- Travel: Willingness to travel as required to support business objectives and team activities.

Salary Range: $130 – $180k
