Job Summary

The Greater Issaquah Chamber is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Business and Government Relations Manager to drive our membership initiatives, coordinate event planning, and serve as the key liaison for our government affairs committee. This role is designed for a professional who excels in relationship building, strategic planning, and multi-tasking across diverse areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Management

  • Oversee all aspects of membership, including recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective members.
  • Secure sponsorships for Salmon Days.
  • Coordinate regular communications, member events, and value-added programs.
  • Serve as the staff liaison for the Ambassador Committee.

Event Planning & Execution

  • Plan, organize, and execute chamber events such as ribbon cuttings, networking functions, workshops, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Manage logistics, vendor relationships, and event budgets to ensure successful execution.
  • Collaborate with team members to promote events and drive attendance.

Government Affairs Committee Liaison

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the chamber and the government affairs committee.
  • Coordinate meetings, ensure effective communication, and support the committee’s advocacy efforts.
  • Monitor relevant legislative and regulatory developments and communicate their impact to members and stakeholders.
  • Attend City Council meetings as required.

Administrative & Reporting Duties

  • Maintain accurate records of membership activities, event outcomes, and government relations efforts.
  • Prepare monthly membership letters.
  • Prepare regular reports for chamber meetings, detailing progress and impact of initiatives.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Political Science, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in membership management, event planning, and/or government relations.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and platforms for event management and member communications. Ability to learn new software.
  • Previous experience in a chamber, association, or similar environment is HIGHLY desirable.
