Chief Operating Officer
Organization: Democracy Re-Stated
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Date Posted: 02/14/2024

Key Goals:

Improve the Nation-State Partnership in Lawmaking: The federal government often infringes on state independence in local matters. In national matters, federal powers remain unchanged since the 1780s.

Improve the Nation-State Partnership in Amending the Constitution: Given the nation’s size and diversity, achieving 2/3 of both houses of Congress and 3/4 of states for an amendment is challenging. The constitutional convention route, meant to propose amendments, has never been utilized as intended, endangering the Constitution’s amendability.

Build a Bipartisan Consensus: Our approach is rooted in American principles, seeking collaboration with both major parties.

Combine Expertise with Political Savvy: A team of constitutional law and political experts is working to define reform approaches. An informal convention of politically connected delegates from all states will then craft a draft amendment with broad bipartisan support.
