Position Overview

MultiState is hiring a Compliance Associate to join our growing team. Compliance Associates provide support to clients in the areas of lobbying and campaign finance compliance. Compliance Associates work closely with other members of our Compliance team, as well as interacting with other teams (Issue Management, Strategic Government Relations, and Lobbying), as needed.

The Compliance Associate may also provide staff support to the Issue Management team. This could include: identifying, analyzing, and tracking state legislation and regulations, as well as issue trends on client concerns; identifying local ordinances and information relevant to client concerns; conducting policy research and analysis; or drafting legislative and regulatory summaries, issue trend reports, blog posts, and analyses on relevant state and local policy developments to be used both externally and for internal client purposes.

As a Compliance Associate, you will:

  • Develop and maintain expertise of state and local lobbying compliance rules and form management in assigned jurisdictions.
  • Prepare and file state and local lobbying and campaign finance registration and reports, as assigned.
  • Support clients, lobbyists, and team members.
  • Draft blog posts on relevant state policy developments to be used both externally and for internal client purposes.
  • Conduct compliance research and analysis.

To be successful, you will need to:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Be detail-oriented in your work
  • Demonstrate success prioritizing and completing tasks and projects
  • Sense of urgency; willingness and ability to meet and exceed established deadlines
  • Possess strong research skills, particularly in navigating and reviewing statutes, regulations, and government guidance
  • The ability to write clearly, concisely, and expeditiously
  • Have organizational agility and a team player
  • Be adaptable to changing timetables and able to prioritize effectively

We prefer that you have:

  • Working knowledge of state political processes and government relations
  • Statutory research experience
  • Paralegal or similar legal experience
  • Previous lobbying compliance and/or campaign finance compliance is preferred, but not required
