Under the guidance of the Chief Policy Officer, the Specialist will play a supportive role in the development and implementation of the Society’s legislative, regulatory, and advocacy agenda. The specialist will be the contact person for grassroots advocacy and coordinate and implement our online campaigns and other grassroots activities.
What You’ll Bring to the Job
- Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in public affairs, political science or related field is preferred. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Work experience in a similar capacity is required; experience in a health-related field or medical association and/or congressional office preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.); database management skills preferred.
- Must have solid oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment; should have a positive attitude and work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Reliable self-starter with strong initiative and follow-through.

What You’ll Own
- Collaborate with GPA staff to advance health and science policy work and track accomplishments.
- Manage and update roster of advocates and leaders as well as target lists of members of Congress.
- Implement our grassroots campaigns, alongside the Chief Policy Officer, and collaborate with the Communications and Media Relations teams to determine best practices for increased engagement.
- Assist with staffing and logistics for committee meetings, cross-departmental efforts, and other advocacy-related events.
- Draft advocacy campaigns, reports, alerts, and newsletter content (e.g., eNews, Advocacy in Action).
- Complete quarterly and yearly lobbying disclosures, code vendor invoices, and member reimbursements.
- Collaborate with Communication and Media Relations to ensure accurate and timely posting of all GPA-related materials to Endocrine.org, on social media, and in newsletters.
- Provide support for advocacy-related programs and monitor relevant legislation and regulation.
- Assist with development and execution of Hill days; identify target districts, recruit Society members, draft materials, and attend meetings as needed.
- Organize Congressional Briefings, identify speakers, prepare materials, and handle follow-up with congressional offices.
- Disseminate Society policy letters, position statements, etc. to Congressional contacts and respond to inquiries.

Work Location
This position is located in Washington, DC and is walking distance to Metro and major bus lines. The Endocrine Society offers a flexible, hybrid work environment. Employees are expected to work from the office at least 2 days per week to foster our collaborative culture and support cross-functional interaction.
We offer a convenient downtown DC location within walking distance of Farragut North/Farragut West and Foggy Bottom Metro stations.
