Preferred candidates will have experience working in previous government relations roles in corporate government affairs, a consulting/lobbying firm, or an association. Experience working in government is also preferred. This position is remote.

We are seeking a talented communicator and strategic thinker with extraordinary project management skills. These critical skills are necessary to drive client service and achieve success for our customers. The successful candidate will have experience thriving in a fast-paced environment to manage and drive client efforts and collaborate closely with senior executives. NSI is a tight-knit, dynamic, diverse, entrepreneurial, strategic, and resourceful team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of client issues and drive legislative, regulatory, and procurement campaigns to positive conclusions.
  • Anticipate, identify, and communicate potential impacts of emerging regulations and legislation that would affect NSI clients.
  • Coordinate closely with client government relations teams to solve problems and create opportunities through legislative, regulatory, and procurement activities.
  • Work with external consulting resources to successfully execute government relations and/or government procurement efforts.
  • Develop reports, vision statements, and key performance indicators related to our service for clients.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage multiple time-sensitive government relations and procurement projects.
  • Identify and recruit possible consultants for our network in emerging jurisdictions.
  • Evaluate consultant performance on behalf of NSI clients.
  • Work as part of a team, providing support, guidance, and effective communication to colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have experience with state and local government legislative, regulatory, or procurement processes. This person must have a polished, confident presence that engenders trust and credibility among various internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, this individual must demonstrate extraordinary leadership, strong writing skills, and exceptional project management capabilities.

Preferred Characteristics:

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience, with a mix of service in government and government advocacy outside of government.
  • An ability to lead projects and serve in a supportive role in others.
  • An ability to build a “trusted advisor” relationship with clients.
  • A strong strategist combined with a hands-on implementer who thinks big-picture while managing details.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset to explore how governmental engagement can drive new revenue streams for organizations.
  • An innate ability to assess critical issues and trends, distill them into core elements, and communicate succinctly to all stakeholders.
  • The instincts and natural ability to thrive in a dynamic, intelligent, and fast-growing environment.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills to shape the thinking of others in a thoughtful, insightful manner that inspires open exchange and collaboration.
  • An innovative and creative thinker unafraid to suggest new ideas, ask tough questions, or tackle large, complicated issues.
  • A self-starter with great initiative, natural energy, motivation, and endurance to work in a growth-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Previous experience managing multiple time-sensitive projects.

Expected Outcomes
