ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Global Total Rewards to lead the strategic design, implementation, and management of our global compensation and benefits programs. This role demands extensive experience in developing global compensation philosophies, managing executive compensation, and overseeing equity and bonus programs by leveraging benchmark datasets with expertise. You will leverage your expertise with multiple complex global HRIS and Payroll system integrations to ensure our global total rewards strategies are competitive, data-driven, and aligned with organizational goals. The ability to establish trust across key executive-level stakeholders through effective communication, change management, and execution will be critical for the success of this role.

The ideal candidate will have robust benefits experience, including managing a global Total Rewards benefits team and addressing diverse statutory requirements across multiple countries. Exceptional project management skills will be critical for this role.

This leader will ideally be located within a reasonable commuting distance to our Chevy Chase, MD office, where they will occasionally be asked to attend in-person meetings with stakeholders to build relationships and rapport with local leaders and teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Global Compensation Strategy:

  • Develop and implement global compensation philosophies, programs, and practices that align with business objectives and market trends.
  • Create and manage competitive compensation programs, including base pay, variable pay, and incentive plans that align with the global workforce strategy.

Executive Compensation and Equity Programs:

  • Design and oversee executive compensation packages, including base salary, bonuses, stock options, and other incentives.
  • Manage equity and stock incentive programs, ensuring they are strategically aligned and compliant with global regulations.

Bonus and Incentive Programs:

  • Develop and manage company-wide bonus programs, ensuring they are motivating, aligned with performance metrics, and competitive.
  • Partner with the Revenue team on competitive employee incentive compensation programs.

Data-Driven Decision Making:

  • Utilize advanced Excel skills and market benchmarking data (e.g., Radford, Willis Towers Watson) to drive compensation strategy and adjustments.
  • Analyze compensation data and trends to inform and refine total rewards programs.

Career Levels and Job Architecture:

  • Maintain and own newly established career levels and job architecture, establishing clear career pathways and supporting employees’ career development.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for managers and employees on career levels and compensation structures.

HRIS Configuration:

  • Configure and manage Oracle HRIS to support career levels, job architecture, compensation bands, and bonus programs.
  • Ensure HRIS systems are effectively utilized and aligned with global total rewards strategies.
  • Own the implementation of future grade and compensation structures in Oracle.

Global Benefits Management:

  • Oversee the management of global benefits programs, ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements and equitable benefits offerings across countries.
  • Lead and support a global benefits team in managing local benefits, leave of absence programs, and addressing challenges related to diverse country requirements.
  • Oversight of retirement plans, including relevant compliance audits.
  • Create innovative strategies to scale benefits that align with our value proposition while navigating complexities of company mergers, acquisitions, labor councils, and a globally dispersed employee population.
  • Improve operational efficiency and effectiveness to standardize benefits administration globally and reduce manual efforts.

Remote and Global Team Leadership:

  • Manage and inspire a remote global team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across various time zones and regions.
  • Support compensation and benefits practices in multiple countries outside the US, adapting strategies as needed for local conditions.

Executive Communication:

  • Engage with the Executive team and Board to discuss compensation strategies, market data, and program effectiveness.
  • Maintain a close partnership with Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Talent Advisory, and Communications teams to ensure team alignment and impactful change management on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Provide expert advice on total rewards matters and contribute to high-level decision-making.

SUCCESSFUL DIRECTOR, GLOBAL TOTAL REWARDS CANDIDATES WILL HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in global total rewards, including executive compensation, equity programs, bonus, and incentive compensation structures.
  • Proven experience working in a global capacity with a deep understanding of compensation and benefits practices across multiple countries, specifically Europe (Spain).
  • Experienced working with Labor Councils in Europe.
  • Extensive experience with multiple complex global HRIS and Payroll systems as well as system integrations. Specific experience with Oracle, Paylocity, and Immedis UKG is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel with a strong data-driven approach.
  • Experience using market benchmarking data, such as Radford, to inform compensation strategies.
  • Exceptional project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and communicate career levels and compensation structures.
  • Strong benefits management experience, including managing a global benefits team and addressing local statutory requirements.
  • Exceptional communication and people management skills, with the ability to engage with senior executives and Board members effectively.
  • Proven experience excelling in a highly matrixed, collaborative, People function.
  • Demonstrated capability to effectively engage at both executive and operational levels, with a proven ability to manage and execute detailed, hands-on tasks.
