A day in the life:

The Director of Government Affairs at Prologis is responsible for building and executing Prologis’ government relations strategy at the state and local levels with an additional emphasis on California and West Coast Markets. The Director of Government Affairs will be focused on helping to advance efforts to effectively engage and collaborate with communities and governments to advance the development and operation of Prologis’ industry-leading portfolio of logistics real estate, mobility, and energy businesses, and report directly to the Head of Government Affairs. This leader is charged with growing the relationships and engagement Prologis has with community and government stakeholders while mitigating regulatory, policy, and public affairs risks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in real estate, construction, infrastructure, or related industries and possess deep expertise in communications, policy analysis, and government affairs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development of legislative and regulatory advocacy strategy and implementation on a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction basis.
  • Create clear and measurable outcomes that are connected to core business outcomes and communicate regularly with senior leadership.
  • Develop strong internal relationships with our business leaders to understand their needs and support them effectively.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local and state officials, agencies, and stakeholders to foster positive understanding of Prologis’ business and objectives.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to craft policy and public affairs agendas, and develop operational plans to execute strategy.
  • Directly manage regional government affairs consultants by providing clear guidance, oversight, and expectations.
  • Lead the creation of marketing, communications, and external messaging documents in collaboration with internal departments.
  • Collaborate with Prologis teams including development, construction, global communications, ventures, market operations, and legal to advance policy and community affairs objectives.
  • Work closely with our deployment, development, and entitlements teams to connect local and state policy positions and advocacy efforts.
  • Develop deep relationships with key trade associations and partner organizations to advance the Prologis agenda.
  • Provide leadership and expertise to market teams across the United States in engaging with local and state officials, effective community engagement, and positioning of Prologis to successfully advance business objectives.
  • Support internal stakeholders including CEO, President, General Counsel, and senior management to appropriately engage government officials and support policy initiatives.

Building blocks for success:

Required:
  • 7+ years of experience working in and leading government and community affairs strategy.
  • Strong collaborative approach to work and internal stakeholder engagement.
  • Extensive knowledge of state policy making with an emphasis on California.
  • You must have excellent organizational skills and be a strong written and verbal communicator, with great attention to detail.
  • You will need to be able to work independently by exercising great judgment in a constantly changing and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Deep experience and understanding of state policy connection to construction, real estate, infrastructure, energy, zero emissions vehicles, or related industries like the supply chain.
  • Ability to understand local policy issues including zoning, planning, and development related issues.
  • Hiring Salary Range of $166,000-$200,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target & LTI) to be determined by the candidate’s locations, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
