Government Affairs Director – yes. every kid.

As part of the Stand Together community, yes. every kid. is a leading advocacy team with a families-first approach to transform America’s education policy landscape.

The Government Affairs Director oversees yes. every kid. efforts in key states across the country including coalition management, lobbying, and grassroots organizing. The Director works with the leadership team and other stakeholders to develop tactics and strategies that advance the vision of the organization.

The yes. every kid. team is remote with an optional in-person office in Arlington, VA.

Your Responsibilities Include

  • Develop and execute a multi-session state government affairs strategy to bring the most amount of education freedom in a region of states and achieve business objectives
  • Hire and direct contract lobbyists
  • Identify and partner with policy champions
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and collaborate with team members in marketing research, implementation of programs, and public affairs
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of spending, understanding strong returns on investment
  • Ensure 100% compliance and recordkeeping with all relevant state laws, including, but not limited to, rules and lobbying registration and reporting requirements

Knowledge And Skills You Bring To The Organization

  • Experience in government affairs or managing advocacy campaigns
  • Familiarity with legislative and political structures
  • Demonstrated experience bringing an idea from formation to fruition in the public policy space
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, remote environment
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, depending on need
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator, strong attention to detail, and high professionalism
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Entrepreneurial aptitude
  • Commitment to the vision of yes. every kid.
