About The Role:

Director of Government Affairs & Outreach

The Director of Government Affairs & Outreach will play a key role in the development of TAE’s public policy strategy and team, and advocate on the front lines bringing that strategy into reality with government and other stakeholders across jurisdictions.

Policy Strategy & Development: Engage with other Policy & Global Affairs teammates to collaboratively develop public policy strategy across a range of overlapping jurisdictions; Contribute to the formulation of legislative/regulatory proposals, in consultation with TAE subject-matter, technical, and outside experts.

Advocacy: Contribute to plans to bring those proposals into reality, strategically advocating for and advancing TAE’s interests and positions with public policy officials at various levels.

Strategic Partnership Building, Coordination & Oversight: Develop and actively participate in strategic partnerships with trade association(s) and stakeholder entities; Actively participate in, and coordinate the Company’s work with trade association(s) and stakeholder groups.

Education & Outreach: Represent TAE publicly at a range of policy-relevant public and private events, roundtables, panels, and workshops.

Communication: Produce advocacy materials and position papers that distill complex science policy issues for a variety of purposes coinciding with public policy efforts.

Media Relations: Coordinate government affairs relations with other internal TAE communications departments.

Actively and openly collaborate with TAE’s technical, legal, communications, and other teams while supporting TAE’s executive leadership in public policy and public affairs engagements.

Assist in tracking, monitoring, identifying, and drafting memoranda regarding legislation, rulemakings, regulations, testimony, and other government matters impacting TAE

About You:

  • Mid-level experience in public policy development and coordination in the Executive or Legislative Branch, and/or mid-level association experience, or equivalent.
  • Proven history supporting principal-level executives/officials in high-stakes engagements.
  • Ability to coordinate diverse stakeholders inside and outside government.
  • Held communications-intensive roles of increasing responsibility.
  • Experience developing policy/policy proposals, regulation/regulatory comment, and engaging/working with coalitions.
  • Ability to navigate complex and technical policy issues, with multiple partners.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across internal teams.
  • Advocacy skills and an ability to explain complicated issues and policy positions to any audience.
  • Willingness to publicly register as a TAE advocate, where required by relevant ethics laws.
  • Mid-level Federal Executive or Legislative Branch experience (preferred).
  • Experience operating in academic/technical environments (preferred).
  • Experience engaging with experts in a science-centric environment (preferred).

Education:

Preferred Education: Public Policy or Communications or Fusion-Relevant Scientific Field.

At TAE Technologies, we consider a wide range of factors when making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and job-related knowledge, training; licenses and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements depending on the position offered (non-senior, senior, lead, or manager). The compensation range for this role is $100,000 – $150,000.
