The Public Policy and Government Affairs (PPGA) team helps PepsiCo navigate the increasingly volatile and complex policy and regulatory landscape in which our company operates. By anticipating opportunities and risks, we facilitate positive environments and avoid discriminatory regulations. Our proactive engagement with a range of external stakeholders ensures PepsiCo has a seat at the negotiating table, allowing us to help shape fair policies that are science-based and protect consumer choice.
This is a hybrid role based in either our Washington, DC, or Purchase, NY office.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will manage key policy and regulatory issues across the United States in a dynamic policy and regulatory environment to protect and support PepsiCo’s growth ambition.
You will develop, enhance, and execute a strategic vision and multi-year strategy for PPGA within the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region in terms of public policy, regulations, government affairs, industry, and trade relations.
You will focus on local government outreach across the territory, with a particular focus on the Baltimore/Washington area, a priority market for PepsiCo.
Additionally, you will help support statewide efforts for the PPGA Directors (e.g., grassroots activation, coverage of legislative days, Food & Beverage and trade association meetings, etc.), with priority states being New York, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Risk Management:
- Proactively manage PepsiCo’s regulatory risk radar to provide visibility and early warnings on key regulatory risks.
- Develop risk mitigation or risk opportunity leverage plans.
- Ensure early identification of regulatory business risks and align internal stakeholders to address them.
- Align corporate plans with proactive risk mitigation strategies.

Policy Research & Advisory:
- Monitor and research emerging public policy issues relevant to PepsiCo.
- Provide external insights into key policy and regulatory matters that affect business operations.
- Offer strategic advisory on confidential and sensitive matters, including due diligence, stakeholder reputation, partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions.
- Maintain internal and external platforms to distribute and manage public policy content.

Industry Relations & Government Affairs:
- Establish PepsiCo’s role in industry associations and government-private sector consultative processes.
- Represent the company in government meetings, trade associations, and external negotiations.
- Ensure PepsiCo’s position aligns with industry frameworks and regulatory best practices.
- Influence public policy in support of PepsiCo’s business objectives.

Strategic Partnerships & External Relations:
- Drive strategic partnerships to advance PepsiCo’s global goals in packaging, nutrition, health & wellness, and sustainable agriculture.
- Represent PepsiCo in advocacy negotiations and external stakeholder groups.
- Collaborate with NGOs and local, state, and regional organizations.

Planning & Crisis Management:
- Generate strategic plans and budgets, including contributions to BU Operating Plans and sector strategy plans.
- Ensure effective crisis mitigation and management from a PPGA perspective.
- Develop and strengthen the PPGA division in collaboration with GMs and HR teams.
- Embed best practice standards across all PPGA functions.
Compensation and Benefits
- Expected compensation range: $114,700 – $192,100
- Actual starting salary will be based on location, job-related skills, experience, and education.
- Bonus: 15% of annual salary (based on performance and eligibility).

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Affairs, Legal, Communications, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of experience in corporate affairs, government affairs, PR, CSR, or communications.
- Must have indefinite right to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry.
- Proven track record in senior stakeholder management and advising leadership on corporate affairs strategies.
- Strong strategic thinking and execution skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage executives, government officials, and general audiences.
