IAFC, headquartered in McLean, VA, is now hiring a full-time hybrid Government Relations Manager to join our growing team. At IAFC, we offer a dynamic and challenging work environment that fosters innovation, creativity, and growth.

Requirements

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Monitoring pertinent federal legislative and regulatory activities that impact the fire service
  • Making the association’s views known to legislators, policymakers, and regulators at all levels of the federal government
  • Covering public and media activities relating to key fire service legislative and regulatory issues
  • Communicating government relations activities to IAFC members and serving as staff liaison to the relevant committees/sections for EMS-related program areas
  • Developing strategies, position papers, and Congressional testimony
  • Ensuring teamwork, communication, professionalism, and ethics are top priorities

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of government relations experience, including knowledge of Capitol Hill, and firsthand experience dealing with federal agencies and policymakers
  • Possess a BA/BS degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field
  • Politically astute with the ability to understand policy issues and the legislative process
  • Prior fire service experience and knowledge of public safety, public affairs, and corporate communications
  • Must be detail-oriented, possess good organizational skills, and have the ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, including strong written and oral communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year

Ability to Relocate:

  • McLean, VA 22102: Relocate before starting work (Required)
