At LCRA, we are seeking a Government Affairs Representative to serve in its rapidly growing Western Region! This position develops and maintains relationships with county and city elected officials, community leaders and/or customers in assigned geographical area, and serves as the primary point of contact on local issues related to LCRA. Responsibilities:

Act as the primary point of contact regarding LCRA policies, procedures, services and programs.

Attend City Council/Commissioner’s court meetings and addresses governing bodies as necessary. Serves on local boards and councils. Participates in chamber activities. Attends LCRA meetings held in assigned area. Supports local service organizations. Maintains relevant and current stakeholder, city and county contact information.

Manage and serve as a point of contact for wholesale power customer cities and electric cooperatives, transmission projects, and contact support for other business units as needed in an assigned area.

Develop a thorough understanding of and insight into the communities LCRA serves and maintains assets in.

Handle strategic and key stakeholders, medium to large in size and complexity.

Educate local officials regarding LCRA’s position on issues of interest.

Travel frequently throughout the geographic region.

Qualifications:

  • Twelve or more years of experience in community or public relations, government affairs, or customer account management, or relevant experience.
  • A degree(s) in business, communications, public administration, government, political science, or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver’s license.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of the utility industry, and in-depth knowledge of the local communities within the geographic region.
