The Legal Affairs Manager will work closely with other members of Asset Management Legal in the General Counsel’s Organization, as well as members of the firm’s various lines of business. The position would be part of a team of lawyers and paralegals supporting Columbia Threadneedle Investments. This position will be filled in Minneapolis, MN, Boston, MA, or New York, NY.

The position will focus primarily on supporting the Columbia Threadneedle Investments registered investment companies (mutual funds, ETFs, and closed-end funds, including interval funds) and Columbia collective investment trusts (CITs).

Key Responsibilities

Under the direction of attorneys, this role will be responsible for performing on-going legal and regulatory related activities with respect to the registered investment companies and CITs.

  • Coordinate the creation, updating, and filing of registration statement post-effective amendments containing prospectuses and statements of additional information (SAIs), including annual updates and supplements thereto, and other disclosure documents required by the Investment Company Act of 1940, Securities Act of 1933, and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
  • Solicit and coordinate input to disclosure documents from business lines (including product, marketing, fund administration, compliance and investment personnel), outside counsel, and outside accountants, while also supporting the CIT business and related CIT board.

This position can sit in our Minneapolis, MN, Boston, MA, or New York, NY office.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree plus paralegal certificate or Bachelor’s degree equivalent.
  • 3–5 years’ experience supporting an asset management business is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and apply legal requirements applicable to registered investment companies.
  • Mature, professional demeanor.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to successfully manage several ongoing assignments.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Dedicated team player.

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $72,100 – $115,000 a year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location.

In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
