Key Responsibilities of the Manager/Senior Manager, Preparedness & Recovery Policy
EEI is looking to add a bright, resourceful, and organized Manager/Senior Manager to our Energy Security & Industry Operations team. The Manager/Senior Manager will enhance the competitive, strategic, and operational interest of EEI’s members through the development and advocacy of EEI positions related to industry emergency preparedness, crisis management, disaster response and recovery, as well as business continuity/continuity of operations. The individual will utilize EEI resources to organize and maintain effective working relationships with member-company representatives/committees and communicate EEI positions to various industry audiences. They will also independently prepare material for both internal and external use.
Other important responsibilities of the Manager/Senior Manager, Preparedness & Recovery Policy include:
- Working at the direction of the Senior Director to support the day-to-day operations and committees of EEI’s national disaster response framework.
- Managing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of EEI’s resource allocation software tool (including the tool’s technology vendor) and serving as one of the EEI representatives on the annual exercise design team.
- Supporting key committees under the framework.
- Under the direction of the Senior Director, supporting EEI’s Mutual Assistance & Emergency Preparedness Committee and Executive Committee.
- In the event EEI’s emergency support function is activated to support the response and restoration efforts of the EEI membership, serving on the operations team.
- Focusing on strengthening industry/government “unity of effort” around planning, restoration, mutual assistance, emergency preparedness, and strategic partnerships.
- Potentially leading industry benchmarking efforts with industry partners to improve and standardize the industry’s emergency management function.
- Working with the Senior Director to manage the day-to-day operations of EEI’s Distribution Committee. This includes setting the strategic direction of industry distribution operations policy and developing and managing committee activities such as monthly calls and in-person meetings, particularly the distribution track of the department’s twice-a-year conference.
Other areas the Manager/Senior Manager will support include:
- EEI’s CEO-led Wildfire Task Force
- EEI’s Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS) Working Group
- State and local policy engagement issues in support of EEI’s External and Regulatory Affairs Teams
- EEI Storm Team Weather Forecasts/Updates
- Emergency Management Forum Benchmarking efforts
20% business travel is expected.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, engineering, or crisis/emergency/disaster/risk management preferred.
- Minimum of three to five years of trade association/public policy, energy/electric utility industry, or emergency management experience preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse sets of internal and external stakeholders to build consensus.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize workload, and multi-task while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research and fact-finding skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) required.

Compensation
The salary range for the Manager role is $80,000 – $120,000.
The salary range for the Senior Manager role is $100,000 – $150,000.
Starting annual salary will be determined based on individual qualifications. EEI also offers an annual performance incentive, prorated for mid-year start dates. This incentive is typically up to 10% of the base salary.
