Ardelyx is seeking a passionate individual who works with integrity and determination to make a difference for patients. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Patient Advocacy & Government Affairs, the Director of Federal Government Affairs will be responsible for leading and executing the Ardelyx Federal government affairs strategy in close alignment with our gastrointestinal and renal business leaders. This person will skillfully engage policymakers to ensure public policies support the needs of patients and advance our company’s goals.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for strategic lobbying efforts engaging the US Federal Government on key policy issues of interest to Ardelyx.
  • Develop and implement appropriate strategies and tactics to achieve the desired outcomes through a combination of direct lobbying and legislative coalition-building.
  • Develop and drive long-term policy strategies that align with both business objectives and the broader biotech industry landscape.
  • Serve in a leadership capacity on BIO’s Policy and Advocacy committees, requiring a high degree of influence, expertise, and credibility within the industry.
  • Manage a team of legislative consultants to strategically deliver results in a compliant way.
  • Develop and execute strategies to ensure patients have access to our medicines in collaboration with Market Access and Marketing.
  • Collaborate with the Directors of Government Affairs (state) and Patient Advocacy to work with government stakeholders on patient awareness initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with Senior leaders in Marketing, Communications, Policy, and Medical Affairs teammates to ensure that efforts are aligned to meet company objectives and most effectively serve the needs of patients.
  • Work closely with the commercial organization on key issues of importance for patients and patient advocates, including pricing and access, patient support, and disease awareness programs.
  • Provide strategic input into the development and resource prioritization for the Company’s annual government affairs plan.
  • Identify and pursue additional opportunities to advance our company’s business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12-15+ years of experience in government affairs, public health policy, or current relevant federal government service.
  • An advanced degree is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated outstanding strategic planning, communication, and presentation skills.
  • A high level of energy and passion toward patients, science, and public health.
  • Working knowledge and appreciation of the complexities of the drug development process, regulatory requirements, and reimbursement.
  • Proven teamwork and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to interact and influence all levels of business.
  • Passion, dedication, and commitment to patient centricity.
  • Ability to travel up to 35%.

Work Environment

  • Remote-based position with regular travel to Ardelyx corporate offices.

The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $257,000 – $314,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.
