Sr Director of Government & External Affairs

As the Sr Director of Government & External Affairs, you will work with governments, trade associations, and company colleagues in the U.S., Asia, and Europe to improve the competitiveness of onsemi. The position reports to the Vice President of Government & External Affairs within the Corporate Law Department. The Job Location is Arizona, Maryland, or Virginia.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Comprehend a wide and changing set of issue priorities, including public policies related to competitiveness, government incentives, workforce development, supply chain resiliency, climate change, energy efficiency including Electric Vehicles, automotive safety, tax, research/technology, export controls, and COVID movement restrictions.
  2. Determine the business and financial impacts of government policies on different company functions including sales, manufacturing, HR, finance, law, and research; and communicate the impacts within the company.
  3. Execute on actions to address company concerns or create new company opportunities regarding Federal, state, and foreign government policies, including advocacy to change such policies.
  4. Pursue government incentives such as those offered under the CHIPS for America Act.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. degree related to law, business, public policy, or international relations, plus 14+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specific Skills required:

  • An ability to develop a broad and deep understanding of a wide range of policy issues, and company priorities.
  • Experience representing a large, multifaceted organization with governments, business and professional organizations, and other non-government organizations, and sound judgment to build a positive image for the company with these stakeholders.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills to effectively advocate company positions with external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and sustain positive and collaborative working relationships with a wide range of internal and external colleagues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Competency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills.
