Purpose of Position:

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) seeks an experienced and dynamic State Government Affairs Manager to join our clean energy investment company. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Government Affairs, you will be responsible for CIP’s advocacy efforts at the state level, shaping policies and regulations that support the growth of the company and clean energy investments. You will work in coordination with company officials and project teams, and collaborate with government officials, industry stakeholders, and community leaders to advance our goals and ensure a sustainable energy future.

Essential Functions:

Policy Advocacy: Develop and execute a comprehensive state government affairs strategy to promote clean energy policies and regulations. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, and proactively advocate for our interests across multiple legislative bodies.

Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with key state legislators, regulatory agencies, and relevant industry associations to interact with and influence decision-makers and promote our clean energy agenda.

Legislative Analysis: Analyze proposed legislation and regulatory changes to assess their impact on our investments. Provide recommendations and guidance to senior leadership on advocacy strategies.

Communication: Communicate company positions persuasively to key decision-makers including legislators, regulators, consultants, and other stakeholders. Direct external consultants and project teams on promoting the Company’s positions.

Coalition Building: Collaborate with trade associations, advocacy groups, and stakeholders in the clean energy sector to build coalitions and amplify our advocacy efforts.

Government Affairs Reporting: Prepare regular reports and updates on legislative and regulatory activities.

Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all relevant lobbying and reporting requirements, including the filing of necessary reports and disclosures.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of proven track record of successfully influencing state-level policies and regulations in the clean energy or related sectors.
  • Strong network of contacts within state governments, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for sustainability and clean energy advocacy.

Salary Range: $180,000 – $210,000
