For our Public Affairs group, this enables us to further develop and utilize a variety of tools and capabilities in support of our business objectives and to increase our engagement with BD associates and external stakeholders in our advocacy efforts via a variety of tools including the BD PAC (Political Action Committee).

### About the Role

As the Senior Manager of Government Relations, you will work with the Public Affairs team and BD associates to develop and execute strategies that support BD’s business objectives and further the company’s purpose of advancing the world of health.

You will have responsibilities related to the BD PAC and issue-specific government relations objectives, while also playing an important role in supporting the government relations activities of the Public Affairs group. Key to this role will be the ability to collaborate with colleagues to effectively communicate internally in ways that drive associate interest and participation in support of BD’s advocacy efforts. Depending on experience, this role may include a targeted portfolio of policy issues that will require the development and execution of government relations strategies.

### Key Responsibilities

– Lead the operations of the BD PAC, including efforts to drive membership recruitment.
– Set recruitment goals for the BD PAC and benchmark PAC performance against peer companies.
– Coordinate with government relations colleagues to develop the BD PAC budget and spending priorities.
– Organize and drive internal communications to BD PAC members, including the BD PAC Board.
– Collaborate with internal teams, including legal and compliance, to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
– Engage in the development and execution of government relations strategies that support BD’s public policy objectives.
– Develop relationships with and represent BD before policymakers, trade associations, and other external organizations.

### About You

To be successful in this role, you require stellar oral and written communication skills, a proven track record of collaborating with internal partners, and the ability to develop relationships with policymakers and other external stakeholders. You should also have a proven ability to interface directly with all levels of management and develop positive, cross-functional working relationships. You should be confident running meetings with all levels, including the C-Suite, to articulate value and define goals. Being a team player, flexible, adaptable, and possessing the ability to turn challenges into opportunities is crucial.

### Education and Experience Required

– 4 years of experience in government relations and PAC operations, including but not limited to corporate government relations or trade association positions, with Capitol Hill or government experience preferred. An understanding of the legislative and regulatory process, and fundraising experience is also required.
– Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Communications, Political Science, Business, or a related field.
– Proficient with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
