Flexible Work Model

PSEG operates under a Flexible Work Model where flexible work is offered when job requirements allow. In support of this model, roles have been categorized into one of four work location categories:

  • Onsite – Roles that have specific onsite requirements and are typically onsite daily.
  • Hybrid Fixed – A blend of onsite work/in-person interactions with some ability to work remotely. Requires employees to live within a commutable distance and be onsite on fixed days each week.
  • Hybrid Flexible – Roles that can be performed remotely but require some level of onsite work/in-person interactions on a regular basis. Requires employees to live within a commutable distance. Managers will set expectations based on business needs.
  • Fully Remote – Roles that can be performed remotely, require employees to live in approved states, and will have purpose-driven in-person interactions on occasion.

Job Summary

This is an internal-facing position that enhances state and federal regulatory and legislative advocacy efforts by:

  1. Working with SGA and federal advocacy leads to develop compelling persuasion arguments that resonate with key external audiences. These arguments will be backed by data from internal experts, consultants, business plans, filings, and financial or investor information.
  2. Producing deliverables such as PowerPoint slide decks, graphics, white papers, position papers, and summaries to simplify complex material for external audiences.
  3. Supporting ESG governance by managing a cross-functional stakeholder engagement council across the enterprise to coordinate stakeholder identification, engagement channels, issues, opportunities, and potential risks.

This position may be based in either the Newark, NJ area or the Washington, D.C. area. Candidates based in D.C. should expect regular travel to NJ, including Newark and Trenton, approximately biweekly or as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with federal and state advocacy leads to formulate substantive arguments to build stakeholder support for PSEG’s policy agenda.
  • Create deliverables for use with external audiences by federal and state government affairs teams.
  • Gather supporting information through external consultants, PSEG subject matter experts, internal documents, regulatory filings, and external reports.
  • Coordinate an enterprise-wide stakeholder engagement council to close the ESG gap and track key stakeholders, engagement methods, and emerging issues.

Job Specific Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or equivalent experience; advanced degrees (MBA, MPP, MS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in government relations, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, or issue management.
  • Strong understanding of policy and political issues relevant to PSEG.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong political instincts and persuasive abilities.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and other tools to create compelling visuals.
  • Confident public speaker and able to run meetings effectively.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to visually translate data and concepts using PowerPoint, Excel, and other design tools.
  • Familiarity with modeling, SWOT analysis, and stakeholder mapping.
