About the Role

The International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC), an international professional association headquartered in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Advocacy & Industry Relations to lead our legislative and industry engagement efforts. This pivotal role will shape public policy, represent IIBEC to government entities and regulatory bodies, and build relationships with key industry stakeholders to advance our mission. You’ll work in a dynamic and mission-driven environment where your advocacy and relationship-building skills will influence meaningful changes in the building enclosure industry.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage IIBEC’s Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Program.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to federal, state/provincial, and local governments and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead policy development and grassroots advocacy initiatives.
  • Monitor and forecast legislative and regulatory issues at both federal and state levels.
  • Draft testimony, official correspondence, articles, and website content.
  • Coordinate Capitol Hill visits and advocacy events.
  • Maintain strong engagement with industry organizations and issues coalitions (e.g., COFPAES, Roofing Industry Coalition).
  • Serve as staff liaison to the IIBEC Advocacy Committee.
  • Oversee development and submission of policy documents to legislative and regulatory bodies.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5–7 years’ experience in public policy, including state or federal lobbying and grassroots engagement.
  • Experience working with or within a professional association preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state public policy processes (knowledge of Canadian systems a plus).
  • Familiarity with issues in procurement, sustainability, building codes, and federal appropriations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and legislative tracking tools (e.g., GovHawk).
