Public Relations & Communications Specialist, Grade 8, exempt, $66,399.16 – $92,958.82 per fiscal year, commensurate with experience.
Job Description Summary:
The Public Relations and Communications Specialist supports the communication director by planning, curating, creating, and executing internal communications that strengthen staff connection, clarity, and engagement. With a knack for diagnosing challenges and crafting creative solutions, this strategic communicator is a collaborative team player who can also self-start and deliver independently. This motivated professional brings strong writing skills, leads with curiosity, exercises sound judgment, and adapts to support and/or lead organization-wide communication efforts, including staff e-newsletters, official memos, intranet content, leadership messaging, and additional evolving content channels.
Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Write drafts and edit content in line with organizational style guidelines to format, publish, and distribute to large audiences (internal and external) across a variety of channels.
- Develop and deliver communications and marketing campaigns to promote awareness of, and engagement to inspire action.
- Ensure the application of brand guidelines and brand templates and inform the organization on the importance of brand alignment and positioning.
- Develop and/or deliver a plan for significant aspects of internal communications with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Use strategic planning systems and protocols to balance strategic messaging with day-to-day updates, ensuring content is accurate, accessible, and delivered through the appropriate channels.
- Help others get the most out of external communications systems by collaborating, consulting, and/or advising.
- Co-create and/or create and work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
Additional Job Description:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or business-related field, AND three (3) years of direct and relevant professional experience.
- OR
- A combination of post-secondary education, professional training, and direct relevant work experience equal to seven (7) years.

This is a remote position, and is subject to Sourcewell’s telecommuting policies and procedures.
On occasion, may be asked to travel to Staples, MN for meetings, professional development or team activities. Potentially twice per year. Notice will be given ahead of time.
