## YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Director, Federal Government Affairs, are to:
Shapes political and societal debates, policy development and legislation. Monitors and manages the external business environment and builds a strong brand and common ground with different stakeholder groups (International Organizations, Governments, policy-makers, NGOs, Industry associations). Integrates government affairs, advocacy, communications, environmental, social and corporate governance and issues management to influence public policy and protect reputation. Drives development of corporate policy positions, advocacy strategies and fosters external presence and relevance.
– Responsible for managing Bayer’s healthcare issues in front of Congress and the Administration, including executive branch agencies like HHS and the FDA;
– Identifies and develops Bayer’s lobbying, political giving and grassroots engagement strategies on federal legislation impacting our consumer health and pharmaceutical businesses;
– Accountable for monitoring and anticipating activities that could impact Bayer’s operations in the United States and developing plans to improve corporate reputation;
– Represents Bayer before the highest levels of government by building strong, enduring relationships;
– Serves as a key member of a team of government affairs professionals while driving a focus on core policy and government affairs priorities in coordination with the SVP of PASS;
– Maximizes the effectiveness of trade associations by communicating key Bayer priorities and ensuring proactive support in coordination with relevant divisions;
– Builds diverse coalitions of associations, NGOs and advocacy groups that broaden support and effectiveness;
– Manages a significant nationwide network of political consultants;
– Provides oversight of the development, implementation and monitoring of lobbying activities, including drafting issue briefs, white papers, talking points, letters to state legislators and government officials, and preparing testimony;
– Ensures Bayer’s compliance with all ethics and lobbying laws.

## WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
### Required Qualifications
– Significant experience in government relations, including state and/or federal government experience or other relevant senior-level experience;
– Experience identifying challenges to current business and their growth drivers in the near and long term;
– Collaborative working style that creates buy‑in and commitment from colleagues and external stakeholders;
– Strong strategic planning skills and the ability to be forward‑thinking and proactive on legislative, regulatory and public policy issues;
– Ability to manage competing business interests and develop plans that reflect the best interest of Bayer;
– Ability to work comfortably in a fast‑paced environment where priorities and direction may change frequently;
– Proven ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization, including senior management;
– Professionalism and the ability to handle people and situations with tact, diplomacy, discretion, confidentiality and urgency;
– Experience presenting before senior executives and policymakers on important legislative and policy issues;
– Strong interpersonal skills with impeccable ethics and high integrity;
– Strong time management, budget and organizational skills;
– Ability to identify, manage and develop talent;
– Exceptional verbal, written and listening skills.
### Preferred Qualifications
Extensive corporate and association experience is strongly desired. An advanced degree in law and/or public policy is helpful but not required.

## COMPENSATION
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between **$170,720 and $256,080**. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, and more.
This salary range is an estimate and may vary based on location, market data, skills, experience, degrees, certifications and other relevant factors.
