Position Summary

Manage state-level grassroots campaigns for assigned list of states. In addition, assist in managing APCIA consumer grassroots social properties, including content coordination and reporting. Also responsible for setting up and coordinating the execution of grassroots alerts and email communications for all states, and performs varied grassroots organization, tracking and reporting responsibilities.

Position Qualifications/Education

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Working with the Vice President, develop and manage grassroots campaigns for identified issues in assigned states, including the necessary website and technical set-up with assistance from Political Engagement Coordinator. Keeps manager and Political Engagement leadership informed of grassroots activities.
  2. Assist in the coordination, development and execution of consumer grassroots social media campaigns and oversee social media content drafting, review and posting.
  3. Participates in state legislative update calls for assigned states and coordinate with Vice President on issues for potential grassroots activation.
  4. Partner with Vice President and other Political Engagement staff to identify and recruit member company executive and government relations participation on priority policy issues. This includes presenting options for engagement with APCIA members virtually and in person.
  5. Responsible for managing Voice of America’s Insurers website, which contains grassroots tools and APCIA member co-brand websites, with assistance from Political Engagement Coordinator.
  6. Responsible for managing the execution of APCIA get out the vote efforts including overseeing content creation and deployment.
  7. Support the further analysis, refinement and utilization of APCIA’s extensive consumer and voter data as part of digital advocacy and predictive modeling efforts.
  8. Responsible for tracking the grassroots needs and priorities for assigned list of states.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Covers and reports on grassroots-related portions of assigned state legislative update calls, as needed.
  • Manages grassroots website updates and maintains grassroots databases, with the assistance of a Coordinator.
  • Other grassroots-related projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • (a) Educational Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Communications or related field.
  • (b) Experience:
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in grassroots, political campaigns, or social media.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) with professional experience with website (WordPress) and social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, etc.).
    • Familiarity with Quorum and Phone2Action a plus.
    • Data analytics experience (as part of campaigns) preferred.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to work successfully under pressure, and to act quickly and independently, using strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
