This unique team combines direct engagement with policymakers at all levels of government, advocacy campaigns, policy research and analysis, and programs to promote equity, safety, and sustainability.
About the Role
DoorDash is hiring an experienced policy professional to join our Federal Government Relations team in Washington, D.C. You will help implement our government relations strategy at the federal level, executing an ambitious agenda for a fast-growing, dynamic business. This position will report to the Head of Federal Government Relations on our Policy Team.
You will work closely with colleagues across the Public Policy and Communications teams, as well as with departments throughout the company, including Legal, Regulatory, and Marketing, to execute our federal government relations strategy. You will build relationships with Republican Members of Congress and their staff as well as congressional committees to tell the story of how DoorDash is empowering local communities—from generating billions of dollars in supplemental income for Dashers, to providing opportunities for local businesses to grow in the era of ecommerce, to powering the delivery of millions of meals to people in need. Candidates must have a passion for policy, establishing and building relationships, and a talent for advocacy.

- Help craft and execute DoorDash’s legislative and political strategy at the federal level with the support of a stellar in-house team and an industry-leading group of external consultants.
- Build long-term relationships with Members of Congress and their staff, as well as relevant congressional committee staff, while establishing DoorDash as the preeminent voice for our industry.
- Represent DoorDash in meetings with Members of Congress, congressional staff, and congressional committee staff.
- Participate in trade groups and industry associations on behalf of the company.
- Collaborate with policy development leads to craft policy solutions that serve business needs while meeting political realities.
- Work with other members of the policy team to mobilize the Dasher, merchant, and customer communities in support of DoorDash’s mission.
We’re Excited About You Because…
- You are a leader.
- You have 6+ years of relevant experience including previous Hill experience, congressional affairs, and/or public policy experience.
- Established relationships on Capitol Hill including with key Republican members and within key committees of jurisdiction.
- Experience advocating before Congress and/or the Executive Branch on behalf of a private sector and/or trades association.
- You have a deep understanding of federal government relations, including effective lobbying strategies, grassroots organizing, and the mechanics of policy-making.
- A track record of working across functions with both internal and external stakeholders and partners.
- You are a strong strategic thinker with polished written and oral advocacy skills.
- You are organized, collaborative, and have a bias for action.
- You are willing to travel (20%).
- You’re a self-starter; you’re intrinsically motivated but also a good teammate.
- Significant experience working as personal or committee staff within the U.S. House of Representatives or the U.S. Senate.
- Desire and ability to learn and advocate on new policy issues effectively.
- Nice to have: Experience in the tech industry, particularly the on-demand economy.

Compensation
The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.
In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographical market up to our highest geographical market within California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York, and Washington. $125,800—$185,000 USD
