We are looking for someone to join our team as the Senior Manager, Public Policy and PAC. ASAE is looking for an energetic fundraising and advocacy professional to join our public policy team as we continue to strengthen the impact of ASAE’s Political Action Committee (ASAE PAC) and related efforts.

The Senior Manager will work with the Senior Vice President of Public Policy and the Director of Public Policy to develop multi-modal fundraising campaigns, expand ASAE’s fundraising network and meet fundraising targets, oversee internal and external PAC- and advocacy-related events, and help develop related marketing and social media strategies and tactics.

This position will help direct important volunteer committees, such as the ASAE PAC Board and Advocacy Council, and will assist lobbying and coalition-building efforts in tax, workforce, and other policy issue areas.

Essential Functions

  • Manage fundraising, compliance, and day-to-day operations for the ASAE PAC, including ownership of budget and financial tracking, reporting to management on performance, and advising staff and membership.
  • Design and drive PAC solicitation campaigns, membership outreach, and communications.
  • Ensure ASAE PAC compliance and file regular reports with the FEC; work with ASAE’s Finance Department to manage Lobbying Disclosure Act reporting.
  • Manage and execute ASAE’s annual Legislative Fly-In.
  • Help develop and oversee other important events, including ASAE PAC fundraisers, Alliance Forum Breakfasts with legislators, and ASAE’s annual Summit Awards dinner.
  • Staff the ASAE PAC Board, Advocacy Council, Power of Associations Oversight Committee, and other relevant ad-hoc volunteer groups.
  • Provide research and advocacy support to ASAE’s lobbying efforts.
  • Attend political events.
  • Support related marketing, social media, and website content development.
  • Help manage department interns.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, or experience with, political fundraising, PAC legal rules, and the legislative/regulatory process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strong initiative and follow-through.
  • Synthesize information and write clearly, logically, and persuasively on assigned issues for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively on legislative topics or topics related to the ASAE Public Policy Department.
  • Organizational, planning, and management skills for group meetings.
  • Must be able to handle multiple activities at the same time, work under several deadlines, prioritize, and function well autonomously and as a self-motivated team member.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products and database management software. (Experience with Office365 and Quorum a plus)
  • Knowledge of social media tools and best practices.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift 20 pounds on occasion.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. The ability to work before and after-hours events on occasion is needed.

Travel

Occasional travel is required.

Required Education and Experience

  • BS/BA degree in Political Science, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Capitol Hill, political campaign, lobbying, and coalition-building experience a plus.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to work legally within the United States without sponsorship.
