The Global Policy Communications team handles high profile regulatory, corporate, political and other reputational issues. We work closely and successfully with colleagues across the company, particularly government relations, legal, trust and safety and market communications.
More than 134 million people across the European Union come to TikTok to express themselves, be entertained and, increasingly, to learn new hobbies or skills and to set up and grow businesses. We are looking for an experienced professional to join the Global Policy Communications team as the Senior Lead for Brussels, a critical role at the heart of tech policy regulation for the region.
In this fast-paced role, you will develop and execute communications strategies to help advance our public policy objectives. We’re looking for someone who has experience of managing communications around complex legislative, regulatory and political issues under close public scrutiny.
The ideal candidate is highly motivated with excellent media relations skills, strong judgment, and the ability to swiftly forge strong relationships internally and externally. Working closely with our government relations team in Brussels, you will have a keen grasp of the political and regulatory landscape that allows you to identify and mitigate risks, and seize challenges and opportunities. You should have a proven ability to easily distil and communicate complex issues across areas including data security, election integrity and online safety for a wide range of audiences, and create clear messaging frameworks, talking points, and other assets that bring our story to life.
Crucially, you are able to make swift decisions in dynamic situations and move fast under pressure, removing blockers and working across teams to achieve alignment among internal stakeholders.
### Qualifications
– Five years plus experience of policy communication work
– Track record of building strong media relationships, including with key correspondents and editors
– Tech or telecoms experience, along with experience of working in EU institutions, is an advantage but not a requirement
– Ability to swiftly understand complex issues in areas of public policy such data security, privacy, child safety and other tech policy areas
– Understanding of the Brussels political system, environment and institutions, as well as cultural landscape
– The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to deliver measurable impact
– Superb written and oral communication skills
– Highly organised with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
