Job Objective:

Manage the public affairs, government relations, and regulatory affairs for Hilcorp Alaska, LLC.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops, maintains, and facilitates relationships with legislators, regulators, community leaders, and industry groups.
  • Monitors legislative and regulatory bodies for laws and regulations that impact company operations.
  • Develops strategies to influence policies that affect company operations.
  • Arranges and accompanies senior management on stakeholder meetings.
  • Represents Hilcorp within trade associations and industry groups.
  • Educates state and local officials about Hilcorp and its operations.
  • Assists in the development of advocacy or grassroots strategies in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Facilitates and coordinates engagement activities, including tours, visits, presentations, and potential media opportunities within operating areas.
  • Ensures an appropriate level of internal and external communications are prepared for issues, crises, or reputation management.
  • Communicates accurate and timely information to key audiences and provides proactive support and guidance.
  • Coordinates with various departments and staff to address local/regional concerns regarding environmental impacts or cultural sensitivities.
  • Assists in developing department budgets and strategic plans.
  • Adheres to the company’s values: integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment, and innovation.
  • Supports the company’s vision and mission.
  • Adheres to established work schedules, attendance standards, and punctuality for work and meetings.

Travel requirement: Approximately 50%

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects operations, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with proven success in public, government, and regulatory affairs in one or more jurisdictions where Hilcorp operates, with a portion of that experience occurring in Alaska.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry in a government/public affairs position.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Proactively gathers information and communicates it succinctly and quickly to executives, managers, and employees.
  • Demonstrates maturity, confidence, poise, and the presence necessary to interface effectively with senior-level executives and external constituencies such as media and government officials.
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing priorities and meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Resourceful problem-solver with the ability to formulate and execute plans efficiently and effectively.
  • Proficient PC skills.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college.
  • Preferred advanced degree in business, communications, or a related field.
