Arnold & Porter – Healthcare and Life Sciences Policy Specialist
Arnold & Porter is seeking two (2) Healthcare and Life Sciences Policy Specialists for the Legislative & Public Policy Practice Group in the Washington, DC office to start in Spring/Summer of 2025 or earlier. The Healthcare & Life Sciences Policy Specialists will focus exclusively on healthcare policy, appropriations, and life science policy issues.
About the Legislative & Public Policy Practice Group
The Legislative & Public Policy Practice Group is Chambers-rated as one of the top legislative practices at a national law firm. The group comprises approximately 40 professionals and operates in a high-energy, fast-paced environment that rewards initiative and teamwork in the pursuit of quality client service.
The primary focus of the group is on Congressional and regulatory advocacy on topics including:

Healthcare Lobbying Team
The healthcare lobbying team’s clients include:
- Manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and technology
- Hospitals and health systems
- Medical specialty societies and other healthcare providers
- Non-profits
- Health IT providers
- Coalitions
- Other healthcare stakeholders
The Healthcare and Life Sciences Policy Specialist position will work on a variety of policy issues, including:
- Medicare/Medicaid coverage and reimbursement
- Appropriations
- Drug pricing and other issues impacting the life sciences sector
- Medical technology
- Public health
- Pandemic preparedness
- Federal funding
- Health IT
- Telehealth
- Children’s health
Qualifications
- Four-year degree and excellent academic credentials
- Minimum of one year of experience working in federal legislative and public policy roles, or recent graduates with a past government relations internship
- Relevant professional or internship experience may include staff work in Congress, a statehouse, or for a corporation or association in general government affairs
- Demonstrated interest in the Healthcare and Life Sciences policy sectors
- All applicants should have a four-year degree, excellent academic credentials, and references
- Policy Specialists will be required to be registered lobbyists under the Lobbying Disclosure Act
Career Progression
The Policy Specialist position is an entry-level role. Policy Specialists are eligible for promotion after three years to Senior Policy Specialist, the second level of a four-stage career progression for non-attorney professionals.

Compensation and Benefits
- Anticipated starting base salary: $60,000
- Actual base salary: Will depend on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, and location
