# Description
APSIA seeks a strong and detail-oriented Communications and Engagement Coordinator to expand its digital presence online, produce graphics, coordinate and promote events, and engage APSIA’s communities within our member schools. This position will entail managing and advising on our social media and communication strategy and requires someone who is graphics‑savvy and an excellent writer.
The Communications and Engagement Coordinator will work closely with APSIA’s career services, alumni relations, development, and communications communities to engage these groups. APSIA is looking for a proactive, collaborative individual who can thrive in an independent, remote environment, who knows how to “manage up,” and who can keep pace during varied times of activity throughout the year. The position will report directly to APSIA’s Executive Director.
**Location:** Remote, U.S.-based. APSIA has a strong preference for candidates able to commute to DC occasionally for events without expenses to the organization. APSIA is registered as an employer in DC, VA, NY, TX, MN, CA, and FL, and prefers candidates based in these states.
**Desired start date:** Flexible for the right candidate, ideally early June. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. There will be a 4‑month trial period.
**Hours:** APSIA will consider full‑time (40 hours per week) and part‑time (15–20 hours per week) candidates. For full‑time candidates, the Communications and Engagement Coordinator should be available for video calls, chats, and email responses between 10 am – 3 pm EST Monday–Friday. The role also requires a professional and distraction‑free workspace.

# Key Responsibilities
## Communications and Outreach
– **Produce content** and distribute internal and external communications, including press releases, monthly newsletters, reports, website updates, and social media posts.
– **Interview individuals** within the APSIA community for a monthly newsletter and social media content.
– **Create and edit visuals** for social media, newsletters, and the website (graphics, banners, simple infographics) to ensure consistency with APSIA brand guidelines.
– **Support community management** and social listening by engaging with APSIA audiences across social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram).
– **Conduct social media and newsletter audits**.
– **Produce content calendar**.
## Engagement
– **Engage Communications, Careers, Alumni Relations, and Development tracks**, meeting monthly or quarterly depending on the community.
– **Create graphics and promote events** online.
– **Curate resource lists** for communities.
– **Curate and promote APSIA awards**.
## Event Coordination / Promotion
– **Attend D.C.-based alumni networking and employer events** in person (on average, 2 per semester).
– **Support promotion of APSIA events** by developing and distributing communications across all channels.
– **Manage event logistics**, including outreach and communication with speakers and participants, and registration.
– **Occasional domestic and international travel** for APSIA member school events and communications.

– **BA in a relevant field**.
– **Strong written and verbal communication skills**.
– **Ability to produce content across multiple formats** (newsletters, social media, press releases).
– **Ability to write concisely and engagingly**.
– **Proficiency in social media management and newsletter platforms** (Hootsuite, Mailchimp).
– **Graphic design skills** (Canva Pro or Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator).
– **Experience updating and managing WordPress content**.
– **Strong interpersonal skills** with the ability to engage thoughtfully while navigating conflicting priorities and deadlines.
– **Ability to work collaboratively and independently** across teams and engage with different stakeholders.
– **Diplomacy and ability to engage with high-level professionals** and heads of state formally.

# Salary
**USD $37,440 – $58,000 per year**
