Who You Are
The Communications Manager is responsible for implementing successful communications strategies to build relationships among CaroNova partners and stakeholders, especially utilizing experience in graphic design and professional writing. This position reports directly to the Director of Strategic Communications to help ensure that all assigned marketing and communications initiatives clearly and consistently advance CaroNova’s vision, mission, and programmatic aims, shaping CaroNova’s public image and driving engagement across various platforms. The position operates in a fast-paced environment, calling for a leader with a proven track record in managing complex projects from inception to completion.

The Ideal Candidate
The Communications Manager is a proactive, enthusiastic, and highly organized digital creator with strong writing ability and experience in managing complex projects. The Communications Manager has an eye for detail, capable of creating and editing visual and written content for clarity, accuracy, and style. Proficiency and savvy in using online communications tools and platforms are also essential. The Communications Manager will be creative, adaptable, and results-driven, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse teams and stakeholders.

What You’ll Do
Create collateral and multimedia content for program initiatives, including infographics, diagrams, PowerPoint presentations, and simple videos

Design and lay out internal and external documents according to CaroNova brand standards using Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud, including one-pagers and long-form reports

Produce and edit high-quality written and digital content for various channels, including newsletters, press releases, website updates, briefing documents, and social media

Design, implement, and maintain templates and themes in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, enabling colleagues to easily produce reports and other materials according to brand standards

Monitor and analyze social media performance and adjust strategies as needed

Collaborate with program staff to maintain and develop web and other project-related content

Support the creation of content for board meetings, supporting board presentations and pre-meeting content to ensuring that board members are well-informed and engaged

Develop and manage internal communication initiatives to keep employees informed and engaged

Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts and provide regular reports to senior management

What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital media, marketing, or a related field

At least three to five years of experience in nonprofit, health, governmental/educational or B2B communications, with proven success in managing comprehensive communication programs

Technical and creative skill in storytelling, conveying information, and persuasion through digital media and writing

Experience collaborating with contractors and vendors on creative projects: sharing information, providing feedback, and managing the review process among leadership and key stakeholders

Deep technical and design proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office

Skill in producing short-form video with Adobe Premiere Pro and other platforms

Background knowledge of North and South Carolina

Or a related combination of skills and experience

What We Offer
The salary range for this position is $60,000 – $70,000 annually. CaroNova offers competitive benefits to include a 401k with a 5% employer contribution, fully-paid healthcare, dental, and vision premiums for employees, 16 paid holidays per year, 20 days PTO, and a home tech stipend.
