### WHAT YOU WILL DO

**Job Summary:**

Advocates and tracks company policy priorities at the federal level. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with members of congress, congressional staff, administration staff, and other stakeholders who may influence the development of relevant public policy. Supports the external relationships, functions, and activities of the Corporate Affairs Department.

**Duties and Responsibilities:**

– Leads the execution of the company’s lobbying, advocacy, and mobilization efforts at the federal level with principals and staff.
– Participates in the development of the company’s policy positions, defines key audiences in congress and the administration, directs consultants operating in the federal sphere, represents the company at fundraisers and events.
– Monitors relevant legislation and regulation and provides timely updates (presentations, reports, and advisories) to internal and external audiences.
– Develops and maintains working relationships with relevant stakeholder groups, including trade associations, competitor companies, third-party groups, and political organizations; represents the company on trade association and industry group boards and task forces, as needed.
– Consults with cross-functional counterparts to provide information and support for other areas of the business. Encourages employee engagement in government advocacy, including grassroots efforts.
– Provides strategic direction and assists in the administration of the Corporate Affairs Department, including by providing budget recommendations related to areas of increased support or cost-saving to further company policy priorities; serves as an advisor to the company-connected PAC.
– Collects and compiles data and information for internal memoranda, reports, budgets, and special projects.
– Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

### QUALIFICATIONS

**Required Minimum Qualifications:**

**Education and Experience:**

– Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy or Administration, Law, or a related field of study and 7+ years Political and/or campaign work experience.
– Must be 21 years of age or older.

**Knowledge of:**

– Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams.
– Governmental affairs in tobacco or highly regulated industry.
– Food & Drug Administration policies and procedures.

**Skilled in:**

– Oral and written communication
– Problem/situation analysis
– Effective time and task management
– Multitasking capabilities
– Flexibility and adaptability

**Ability to:**

– Plan, organize, prioritize, and manage projects or programs.
– Maintain effective working relationships.
– Demonstrate critical thinking.
– Travel domestically, as needed.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

**Education and Experience:**

– Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy or Administration, or Law and 10+ years Political and/or campaign experience.

### WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMAND

– Requires light physical effort. Occasionally lifts or moves light objects (under 10 lbs.).
– Walks, sits, or stands for prolonged periods.
– Requires prolonged machine operation including computer and keyboard equipment as well as use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
