Overview
This role is responsible for maintaining media relations and protecting our corporate image in ways that promote our business, values, and mission. This includes handling responses to media inquiries, pitching corporate stories, developing media lists, and tracking earned and placed media. This role will collaborate with partners on joint announcements, support presentations and speaking opportunities, and manage internal communications and events.
Hybrid opportunity: Based at the Falls Church, VA headquarters office 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive publicity strategies that align with our business objectives.
- Build and manage public personas of company spokespeople, including senior leadership.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
- Craft compelling press releases, op-eds, articles, and other PR materials to enhance the company’s voice.
- Monitor and respond to media inquiries, including maintaining a bank of FAQs and a database of inquiries and responses.
- Monitor media coverage and manage the public perception of the company.
- Support crisis communication and development of strategic solutions to mitigate PR issues.
- Conduct market research and analyze public opinion to inform PR strategies.
- Organize and oversee press conferences and joint promotional activities.
- Track and coordinate speaking opportunities.
- Coordinate internal communications and corporate events.
Qualifications
- A BS/BA preferred; equivalent years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of 8 years of public relations (PR) experience, including experience within communications, speechwriting, and public affairs.
- Exceptional writer, with the ability to synthesize complex content into clear and engaging communications. Able to create storylines.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to execute PR campaigns from conception to completion.
- Successful PR strategy implementation experience.
- Comfortable navigating regulations and legal language.
- Experience with social media platforms and digital PR strategies.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to think creatively and propose innovative publicity solutions.
- Ability to meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in a PE-backed company environment desired.
- Minimal travel; must be able and willing to travel up to 10%.
