Role Summary

As the Senior Director, Strategic Events and Engagements, you will serve as the chief architect and driver of ITI’s and The ITI Institute’s external-facing program and strategy. We are a small team, so you will set the vision, develop, and lead the strategic direction for all events, sponsorships, and partnerships across both organizations, and manage their execution, including hands-on coordination on the ground. In this role, you will design and execute initiatives that advance ITI’s and The ITI Institute’s policy priorities, elevate brand visibility, and deepen engagement with policymakers, industry leaders, and the broader technology community.

You will create compelling, mission-driven programming that expands organizational reach and delivers measurable impact. This includes securing sponsorships, growing partnerships, and delivering events that generate revenue and visibility for both ITI and The ITI Institute.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Program Development

  • Design, lead, and execute a bold, multi-year strategic roadmap for external programming across both ITI and The Institute.
  • Set clear goals and benchmarks for program growth, impact, audience engagement, and revenue generation.
  • Continuously evaluate and evolve programming to ensure alignment with organizational strategies, emerging policy priorities, and stakeholder interests.
  • Ensure programming for both ITI and The Institute is distinct in purpose, aligned in brand, and impactful in execution.

External Engagement and Sponsorship Development

  • Develop and drive a comprehensive sponsorship strategy to support programming and event goals.
  • Build high-value relationships with sponsors, industry stakeholders, affiliated organizations, and partners to sustain and grow revenue and participation.

Marketing, Communications, and Audience Growth

  • Oversee marketing and communications strategies that amplify ITI’s and The ITI Institute’s programming and expand their reach.
  • Implement audience development and engagement plans to ensure programs reflect diverse voices and attract broad participation.

Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Manage, mentor, and grow a talented events and programming team, promoting collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Coordinate cross-functional input and support from policy, communications, membership, and executive leadership teams to inform programming.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all aspects of event and programming logistics, vendor and consultant relationships, budget management, and reporting.
  • Ensure operational excellence and brand integrity across all programming touchpoints.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in strategic event management, sponsorship development, and external programming leadership.
  • Proven success building high-impact events and partnerships in nonprofit, association, private sector or other mission-driven settings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and meet ambitious growth and revenue targets.
  • Experience working closely with senior principals, ranging from elected officials to corporate executives.

Compensation

Annual salary starting at $156,000
