Marketing & Communications Manager

Primary Purpose:
Evaluate, plan, and direct strategic marketing and communications initiatives to meet organizational objectives. Provide leadership, managerial, editorial, and general oversight to internal and external customers, industry partners, and stakeholders. Serves as an architect and thought leader for building and executing marketing plans rooted in products, services, education, public relations, and brand communications.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of:
- Comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the company’s brand and image and enhanced position within the marketplace and the general public.
- Internal and external communications.
- All company marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, media relations, customer acquisition and support.
- Ensure “brand management” of company’s desired image and position. Assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the company and outside of the company in industry and community.
- Strategically guide external communication, including content creation, editing, design, production and distribution. These activities include but are not limited to collateral, media communication and printed publications such as market reports, product recalls and alerts.
- Oversees all communication platforms and schedules for written publications and social media (FB, Twitter, IG & Pinterest). Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution.
- Coordinates media interest in the company and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.
- Coordinates the appearance of all company print and electronic material such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.
- Work with Executive and Management Teams to develop and maintain a strategic perspective—based on marketplace and customer needs and satisfaction.
- Develops and coordinates means to seek regular input from the customers for product offerings, quality and services.
- Builds company culture through planning, coordinating, and executing special events.
- Conducts relevant market research and monitors trends
- Ensures website and content is current and relevant
- Special events for customers, employees and vendors including creating marketing, set-up and decor
Additional Functions:
- Attends and participates in staff meetings.
- Learns and utilizes all office policies and procedures.
- Complies with all safety and security regulations and procedures.
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:
Manages, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the Marketing staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience as a marketing professional, preferably in the produce industry. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or related field is preferred.
