Primary Purpose

The Industry Communications Manager will support the Senior Manager of Strategic & Industry Communications in maintaining and strengthening relationships with nuclear energy industry communications professionals, serving as a liaison to NEI members and other key audiences.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Industry Communications Liaison & Partner

  • Lead content development to support NEI’s industry communicators under the leadership of the Senior Manager of Strategic & Industry Communications.
  • Engage with industry communicators, serving as a key point of contact; ensure member communicators remain informed of key issues, events, milestones, and state and federal regulatory and policy actions; identify external communications needs and respond to requests for resources and support in coordination with the broader communications team.
  • Manage communications platforms, including the industry’s communicator resource site and LinkedIn group used to engage with member company communicators.
  • Prepare the weekly newsletter for NEI member communicators and monthly bulletin for the Communications Advisory Committee.
  • Support the Senior Manager of Strategic & Industry Communications in preparing for NEI Communications Advisory Committee meetings (two per year) and Steering Group meetings (three per year). This includes contributions to the agenda, materials preparation and oversight of logistics for each meeting.
  • Support the Chair and Vice Chair of the NEI Communications Advisory Committee as they fulfill their duties.

Support of the Communications Division

  • Participate in intra-organization efforts to address key industry issues and potential flashpoints. Support and manage elements of integrated communications plans, coordinating with member company communicators to ensure a consistent and aligned message across the industry.
  • Partner with communications division colleagues on special projects, industry events, and communications campaigns.
  • Help implement NEI’s emergency response plan and support the NEI emergency response team as needed to ensure alignment and coordination with member companies and communications staff.
  • Strategically represent members’ interests in internal content development.

Job Specifications

A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in communications and/or public affairs, including corporate communications, strategic communications, crisis communications, political campaigns, advocacy, or coalition management.

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of news writing and AP style.
  • Familiarity with website maintenance.
  • Familiarity with software including Kentico, Marketo, Impexium.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Understanding of print, digital, and social media operations.

Pay Range

For employees who live in the Washington, DC Metro area, the salary range for this position is $74,240 to $111,360 annually. Typically, new hires are brought into the organization at a salary range between the minimum and midpoint, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted salary for the role.
