Essential Responsibilities

The Deputy Director, Marketing and Communications will join the George W. Bush Presidential Center to lead efforts to grow the reach of our engagement with the community and the Bush Center as a destination for compelling programming and impactful experiences while also managing the production services in the organization. This position is non-remote and located at the Bush Center in Dallas. Specific responsibilities include:

Audience Acquisition and Retention

In collaboration with the Director, Communications and Marketing and the Director, Bush Museum, lead audience acquisition strategy for the George W. Bush Presidential Museum, including related programming like the public event series, Engage at the Bush Center, presented by NexPoint.

Develop advertising plans (digital, print, and outdoor) that advance the goals of extending the Bush Center’s work to new audiences and execute them alongside the Manager, Marketing and Communications.

Measure the effectiveness of audience acquisition strategies, from lead to conversion.

Identify gaps in measurement procedures and lead implementation of new technology and processes.

Work alongside the Data Operations team to ensure data organization and dashboards align with marketing strategies.

Implement industry-standard customer journeys throughout the audience lifecycle to maximize conversion and minimize attrition.

Community and Media Relations

Create collaborative partnerships and develop key influential relationships that will support the promotion of the Bush Center’s work, both with community organizations and local media.

Work closely with the communications team to ensure media relations, editorial, and marketing initiatives are in alignment.

Organize, track, and report on outreach efforts.

Management and Leadership

Lead the production team that designs and implements print and digital products, including email communications, website, social media, and print design for the Bush Center.

Implement project management standards and ensure delivery of all products in a timely, high-quality, and error-free manner.

Branding and Messaging

Understand Bush Center key messaging and branding; serve as an organizational resource internally and represent the Bush Center externally with community partners.

Review print and digital collateral with a fine eye for detail, assuring branding and message consistency.

Manage processes to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The qualified candidate will possess:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

8–12 years of experience in strategic planning, marketing, advertising, media buying, and community relations, with a track record of demonstrated growth.

Experience managing a team of high-performing professionals.

Strong knowledge and experience with digital advertising platforms and technologies, including but not limited to Google AdWords, Meta Business Suite, and LinkedIn, and their tracking techniques.

Experience media buying in a local/regional setting.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines.

Experience managing a departmental budget.

Strong written communication skills, with a knack for taking complex ideas and making them accessible and compelling to a broad range of audiences.

Evidence of exceptionally strong attention to detail and a commitment to the highest standards of quality.

Familiarity with AP Style.

Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey strategic, technical, and functional concepts to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and constituents.
