We are looking to hire a Strategic Communications Manager immediately in a Hybrid (50/50) capacity at our Global Headquarters in Hunt Valley, Maryland.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Strategic Communications Manager is responsible for developing the Company’s Sustainability Communications and is the primary business partner for various McCormick Senior Executives who lead Global Functions. The role includes the writing and creation of the company’s Purpose-Led Performance report, as well as publishing critical information about McCormick partnerships with NGOs, investments, awards, and updates on sustainability progress and commitments. The position will also work directly with various Senior Executive leaders in managing their executive voice and delivering their internal and external communications.

The Strategic Communications Manager will be responsible for delivering high-quality strategic business writing services to critical stakeholders. Exceptional project management capabilities, superior business writing skills, and strategic leadership abilities will be keys to success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and prepare sustainability communications, leading the delivery and creation of McCormick’s Purpose-Led Performance Report, and publish critical information about partnerships, investments, awards, and progress across internal and external channels.
  • Serve as key strategic business partner, speechwriter, and voice for select senior-level executives across internal and external platforms.
  • Partner with the Employee Communications team to incorporate news into employee communications and platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing; Master’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years of broad experience in professional writing, marketing, or communications
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with strong influencing abilities
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and multiple organizational levels
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of the Consumer Packaged Goods industry, preferably food industry
  • Experience dealing with media and external stakeholders
  • Ability to lead and influence without direct authority
  • Exceptional strategic thought leadership, communication, and influencing skills
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed environment
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Customer-oriented approach; ensures deadlines are met for key stakeholders
  • Self-directed, takes initiative, and provides recommendations
  • Performs well under pressure for big events and complex issues

Compensation

Base Salary: $103,520 – $181,150

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
