The Ideal Candidate

Relishes the idea of working from a home office while doing strategic, high-impact marketing and public relations work for some of the nation’s leading law firms, architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms, and B2B companies.

Is a news junkie who loves the art of storytelling.

Works well with a tight-knit, friendly, and supportive group of colleagues.

Has excellent interviewing, writing, and editing skills and can translate complex, technical information into crisp, compelling language; experience as a former journalist is a plus.

Has experience developing story angles, pitching the media, securing interviews, and coaching clients on media relations best practices.

Has the ability to travel to client offices occasionally per client requests (all travel is reimbursed and infrequent).

Is adept at using and learning new technologies, such as email, CRM, social media, project management, and other collaboration platforms.

Is an excellent communicator and can build relationships with colleagues, clients, vendors, and partners in a remote environment.

Has a minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a PR agency, as a journalist, or in-house at a professional services firm (law firm, architecture firm, engineering firm, etc.).

Holds a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.

As a Member of the Reputation Ink Team, on Any Given Day, You Will:

  • Interview a corporate attorney about a recent litigation win, review court documents, write a press release, and distribute the release to relevant media contacts.
  • Interview an engineer about a project or industry topic, review project information and research industry trends, write a blog post or case study, and suggest ways to promote it.
  • Brainstorm newsworthy pitch angles and article topic ideas.
  • Research editorial calendars and build media lists.
  • Pitch an attorney, engineer, architect, or other professional to serve as a media source on a breaking story.
  • Write a wide array of copy for materials such as blog posts, e-books and digital guides, bylined articles, case studies, infographics, websites, SlideShare presentations, press releases, fact sheets, press statements, emails, social media posts, and more.
  • Create marketing campaigns using marketing automation software, including email drip campaigns, landing pages, social media scheduling, and more.
  • Collaborate with and oversee graphic designers, digital animators, videographers, and other professionals to develop digital marketing assets.

Additional Information

We ask candidates who we believe are a strong fit to complete two to three paid freelance assignments as part of the interview process.
