AAPOR is the leading professional organization of more than 2,000 public opinion and survey research professionals in the U.S., with members from academia, media, government, nonprofit, and private sectors. AAPOR members are highly interdisciplinary and collectively embrace the principle that public opinion and survey research are essential to a healthy democracy, providing information crucial to informed policymaking and giving voice to the nation’s beliefs, attitudes, and desires.

AAPOR holds an annual conference in May, with over 1,100 attendees, and offers professional development opportunities throughout the year.

You will work with our small staff and very active volunteers to oversee and deliver the marketing and communications efforts that are instrumental to our success.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Manage and implement all communications with members, including drafting and publishing regular newsletters, sending out informational email blasts, and promoting events.

Develop and manage overall communications and marketing strategies and the necessary systems to collect and develop the information required for marketing and communications outreach.

Oversee and maintain AAPOR’s website, AAPOR.org.

Post and maintain AAPOR’s social media accounts.

Create and implement methods for tracking and evaluating the success and impact of marketing and communications efforts.

Serve as the initial point of contact for all press inquiries and handle AAPOR’s media relations.

Salary Range: $70,000–$82,000

This position is partially remote with one day a week in the Alexandria, VA office.

The Successful Candidate Will

Be a strong multitasker with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Be able to work independently and meet deadlines.

Work well with a small staff and multiple volunteer committees.

Have at least five years of experience in association or nonprofit marketing and communications and a bachelor’s degree.

Be familiar with a wide variety of systems, including AMS, marketing automation, and content management systems—ideally WordPress, Rhythm, and Informz.
