Job Description
Serves as head of outreach and marketing for a thriving non-profit organization in
healthcare, advancing the mission by overseeing outreach and marketing for all levels
of the organization and to the public. This is a primarily remote organization though we
typically meet together once per month and attend in-person meetings with other
organizations in the DC region periodically. This role has minimal travel requirements
outside of the DC area.
Communications
Review and tailor communications to members, supporters, organizations, and the
public. Serve as the senior staff person for continual process and operational
improvement. Coordinate annual conference marketing/outreach. Oversee website
content including ongoing reviews and updates of information to address membership
and general public needs about cochlear implantation. Develop content (with others) for
website. A separate membership and website manager conducts day-to-day website
activities.
Marketing
Advance information and messaging to members, hearing health community, medical
professionals, and the general public. Proactive outreach to media, governmental
entities, insurance providers, and related organizations. Coordinate content on the
organization’s website to advance visibility on the Web working with a search engine
optimization firm. Author and distribute media alerts and engage with online and print
publications that can further our message on cochlear implantation and access. Utilize
social media to engage and inform the public. Involve members in outreach and
marketing.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and characteristics:
 Attention to detail and ability to focus on systematic processes to maximize
outreach
 Superlative writing skills
 Ability to quickly develop knowledge about hearing loss and cochlear
implantation
 Skills in developing actionable metrics for outreach efforts
 Marketing expertise
 Integrity, honesty, and a sense of humor
 A growth/change mindset and ability to think about solutions in innovative ways
 Resides in the Washington, DC area or will move to the region
