About Americans for a Clean Energy Grid (ACEG)
Americans for a Clean Energy Grid (ACEG) is a coalition of diverse stakeholders that advocate for policies to build out the interstate high-capacity electric transmission system. Our coalition includes investor-owned utilities, merchant transmission developers, energy generators, corporate customers, equipment manufacturers, labor advocates and non-governmental organizations from across the political spectrum. ACEG’s mission is to educate policymakers and the public on the indispensable role that transmission has to play in meeting surging load growth, winning the AI race with China, and delivering reliable and affordable power to all Americans.
Position Description
ACEG is looking for an experienced Director of Transmission Regulatory Policy to drive its regulatory objectives and further the development of a modernized and reliable grid to advance the clean energy economy for the benefit of all Americans.
The Director of Transmission Regulatory Policy responsibilities will include:
- Working with the Executive Director and the Board to develop and advance ACEG’s policy priorities with federal and state regulators.
- Mobilizing ACEG’s diverse coalition, as well as external stakeholders across economic sectors and the political spectrum, in support of ACEG’s mission and regulatory priorities.
- Managing two committees of ACEG supporters to move the needle on its regulatory objectives with Siting & Permitting and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
- Representing ACEG at conferences, in public speaking engagements, in meetings with agency staffers, and as part of issue-specific coalitions.
- Managing a team of external consultants and working with ACEG staff to develop and implement strategy across its Siting & Permitting and FERC priorities.
- Drafting and analyzing public comments, questions for the record, bill amendments and legislative text.
Key Qualifications
Key qualifications for this position include:
- 8+ years of professional experience in energy regulatory proceedings.
- Expertise in key issues regarding the electric grid, transmission, energy markets, and policy.
- Experience educating the Executive Branch, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and/or state public service commissioners about complex issues impacting grid expansion and transmission development.
- Proven ability to build and mobilize diverse coalitions in support of advocacy campaigns to achieve key transmission policy objectives. Specific experience with trade associations a plus.
- Superior strategic thinker and thought partner on how to develop and accomplish short-term and long-term organizational objectives.
- Exceptional organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple initiatives on tight timelines with a variety of interested parties.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required, JD strongly recommended.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $150,000–$200,000, commensurate with skills and experience.
All ACEG employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including:

Location: This position is in Washington, D.C. to provide for centrally located meetings with stakeholders and decision-makers and can be flexible with off-site work arrangements. Regular travel is expected in this position.
