Goldbelt Professional Services specializes in providing expert resources for Public Health missions including scientific, technical, and administrative support from junior staff to high-level subject matter experts. Summary:
The Health Communications Specialist III provides creative and design support for CDC Vaccine Safety (VS) communication initiatives across multiple programs. This role develops visually compelling, accessible, and user-centered communication products—including print, digital, social, and video assets—while ensuring compliance with CDC branding, Clear Communication Index standards, and Section 508 requirements. The specialist works closely with communication leads, designers, and program staff to translate complex public health information into clear, engaging materials for diverse audiences under short deadlines.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Under the guidance of the team lead and team directors, develops and implements communication and marketing programs, projects, and strategies for the general public and other audiences.
- Conducts research on current VS communication materials and methods.
- Works with VS communication lead to apply communication theories and models to communication materials and messaging development.
- Collects data from cross-cutting programs for the development of health communication strategies and products.
- Conducts audience evaluation, collecting feedback from consumers, monitoring communication channel use, monitoring audience demand for materials and publications, and other evaluation tactics to analyze the effectiveness of health communication strategies and messages.
- Produces quarterly communications research environmental scans related to VS topics and communications issues that impact VS.
- Under the guidance of the team lead, inform CDC VS communications strategies; OMB, IRB, and other human-centered design projects and approvals; and new research projects or strategies.
- Recommend digital marketing programs, projects, and strategies for the general public and other audiences based on formative research.
- Participate in research opportunities across divisions and support them through data collection processes.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based public health environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 4-5 years of professional experience developing visual or health communication materials.
- Experience developing materials that meet Section 508 accessibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Pay and Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $95,000 to $115,000.
