POSITION OVERVIEW
Malaria No More is seeking a strategic and creative communications professional to serve as Senior Manager, Media & Communications. This position will play a critical role in shaping the organization’s public voice and advancing global malaria advocacy through strong media engagement and storytelling. The Senior Manager will lead press strategy, build and maintain media relationships, craft high-quality written content, and support public awareness campaigns in close collaboration with internal teams and external partners. Greater DC metro area preferred, remote considered (must be willing to travel to Washington DC two times a month).

Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute proactive media strategies to support campaigns, policy goals, and organizational milestones

Cultivate relationships with top-tier national and global journalists across print, digital, television, and radio

Pitch and secure coverage for MNM’s leadership, programs, and partners in influential outlets

Draft, edit, and review press releases, statements, op-eds, talking points, media advisories, and blogs

Monitor and respond to breaking news and relevant media trends to position MNM as a thought leader

Collaborate with internal teams to align messaging and identify strategic media opportunities

Provide editorial oversight for organizational reports, digital publications, and communications materials

Support communications efforts for events, launches, advocacy campaigns, and external engagements

Contribute to social media content development and media monitoring efforts

Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of experience in media relations, communications, or journalism

Demonstrated success securing national and international press coverage

Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience drafting high-level materials for media and public audiences

Strong understanding of U.S. and global health policy, international development, and public affairs

Ability to translate complex policy or scientific issues into clear, compelling narratives

Familiarity with media monitoring tools

Ability to develop content for multiple channels, platforms, and audiences

Experience collaborating across teams and with external stakeholders, including advocacy partners and government entities

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, international relations, or related field
